I love u all so much
Why are we not talking about how terribly, desperately wrong this is?
Stiles and Derek are obviously Monica and Chandler.God I know, right? I think Holland means they’re Ross and Rachel in the sense that pretty much the romantic plot of the show was whether they’d get together, and they didn’t until the end of the final episode, Moonlighting style, to maintain the tension. Which seems to be how Jeff’s talked about Sterek before, as something we don’t really want to happen until the end because once we get what we want, why would we stay? But ITA, they’d be so much better as the Chandler/Monica getting together part-way through and dealing with life crap. God knows they’d have some dramatic obstacles to overcome even after they were together, and I’m pretty sure we’d all watch the shit out of that. Moonlighting style is so old fashioned now. And anyway, let Scott and Allison be Ross and Rachel. They’re supposed to be the leads, after all.
This idea that we’d want a last-moment-of-the-show get-together for a m/m couple is so annoying. I want to see them not just get together but stay together! It would be a such a cop-out if they were brought together just at the end. DNW. So yes, count me in as another vote for Sterek being the Chandler/Monica of the show.
So I enjoy Ms. Blake. She seems (seemed) like a chill, wholesome type of gal that would be really lovely for Derek and his endless shitstorm of a life. I’m a Sterek shipper through and through, but I can separate fanon and canon, so I am (was) on board with Derek/Ms. Blake if that’s where they’re going.
But that scene last night…
I mean really?
First of all, Derek almost dies and is almost forced to kill his recently-thought-to-be-dead little sister and the beta he was willing to die trying to save. But then he decides to leave it up to Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Scarf to get them somewhere safe so that he can go check on some random teacher? When has Derek ever cared about anyone outside of his pack? Call it character development if you want, but since we’ve seen nothing to indicate this development, I call bullshit. Would it have not made more sense to let Scott go get her, since she knows Scott and also didn’t see Scott turn into a wolf man, unlike Derek?
And then Ms. Blake. Sees three wolf people fighting. One wolf guy gets torn to shreds. Then said wolf guy approaches her all cut up and bloody and she… takes his hand and smiles? What even… who does that?! I get that Derek is extremely attractive and she was in shock, but if a wolf man approaches me, I’m grabbing the nearest heavy item and swinging.
So I dunno, I want to like Derek and Ms. Blake together, but that scene was very suspect. She seemed wayyy too cool with the whole situation. I’m guessing either she’s something supernatural (and probably the one sacrificing virgins) or she’s being brainwashed/controlled by someone else. I have no theories on Derek’s behavior.
If she turns out to be a normal human and I have to chalk this scene up to poor writing, I will be very angry. Cause if she’s not supernatural, that scene was seriously awful. Like straight up Twilight tween romance shit.
So in summary, I went from liking Ms. Blake to finding her very, very suspect.
As for the Sterek fans vs Ms. Blake fans debacle, my philosophy is simple:
I am sorry but Blake pretty much kept her head despite her fear, didn’t scream, and was as chill with finding out about werewolves as Stiles is AND FINALLY THERE IS A FEMALE CHARACTER WHO ACTED LIKE I MIGHT ACT.
Like I DO act in crisis situations. Wait and see and evaluate.
Also I’m so tired of females screaming you have no clue.Derek definitely cares about people outside his pack, too. He was willing to kill Lydia when he thought she was the kanima, not because she posed any risk to his pack or anyone he particularly cared for personally, but because there was a risk to the (seemingly) random citizens of Beacon Hills.I think this is Derek’s being a leader, leaving his juniors to do the easier job (moving two unconscious werewolves who he knows are alive and well because they were just clawing the shit out of him), and taking himself off to face the possible danger, e.g. Jennifer freaking out and trying to stab him in the face, exactly as you suggest. Making sure the civilian is safe, and being the one to deal with awkward or difficult questions like ‘what the fuck just happened’. That’s not something for an adult to leave to a teenager.I agree, something feels off about her reaction, both to this and to the bird kamikaze effort. Perhaps she was just in shock, although I do think she’s tied to the Alpha pack somehow, as per my earlier post. In either case, I doubt she and Derek are going to immediately hop into bed together. This is their first meeting. There will be more. Hopefully they’ll even speak to each other! Perhaps we might reserve judgment on whether their relationship works until we know what it is and how it’s going to be played. It might just make us all a bit happier.
Reblogging for commentary, because yes, waiting for them to have a conversation before leaping to judgement is a neat idea! ;)
Emerald Orbs Is Not An Insult: tardistiles: IF YOU DON’T LIKE DEREK WITH THE TEACHER, THAT’S FINE.IF...
IF YOU DON’T LIKE DEREK WITH THE TEACHER, THAT’S FINE.
IF YOU DON’T LIKE DEREK WITH THE THE TEACHER BECAUSE OF STEREK, YOU NEED TO CHECK YOURSELF.
ACTUALLY, FUCK THAT.
I have a very good, very personal reason to absolutely loathe this entire development and how it’s portrayed. A reason that’s all mine and hits entirely too close to home and made me cry for hours today as I tried to come to grips with how fucking awful everything is.
That said. What the fuck? Sterek is a perfectly valid reason to hate any other Derek or Stiles romance. Just like really liking Scott and Allison together is a perfectly valid fucking reason to hate Scisaac or Allison/Isaac.
Like, what the fuck are we policing people’s feelings now? Is it no longer okay to be an OTP shipper? FUCK THAT.I’m cool with Derek/Jennifer (mostly because I believe 100% that it’s temporary, and that it could be a healing experience for Derek), but I think it’s totally and completely valid for others to not be okay with it, for whatever reason they might have. As long as they aren’t going around telling everyone else how to respond or feel, and aren’t sending hate to tptb (and I do mean hate, not just honest reaction), what’s the problem? We’re not a single homogenous group, we all experience the show differently. There’s nothing wrong with someone else responding differently to you.
Jennerek is the best ship name ever! Especially because it has the look of a shoehorned-in, generic no-homo ship. I know it
probably isn’t! But it does look like one right now.
I’m interested to see where it goes, though I still want Sterek 100%.
I AM FUCKING SCREAMING
SOCCER!MOM DEREK [x]
YOU DON’T KNOW
HOW MUCH I AM CACKLING RIGHT NOWOh man, I knew the only reason they’d ditch the Camero was for a fucking piece of product placement shit, and I was right, it’s a fucking Toyota. As if Derek hasn’t suffered enough already.
Is the Camaro gone? Is this a permanent change? Damn it, Chevy, why couldn’t you pony up the sponsorship to keep Derek in a decent car?
Though it still doesn’t beat that one line in Smallville when Chloe, handing her keys to Clark, says, “You can take my Yaris.”Give them time. We called the old car The Camero, not the car. I bet they want this to become The whatever model it is, so we all run out and buy ourselves a soccer mom mobile just like our hero Derek Hale. And yes, it’s a permanent change. Jeff confirmed in his Q&A on Tumblr last night that the Camero is gone. We spent the day speculating about Derek getting a hot motorbike or something, and then, this happened. Product placement, man. I know it’s necessary to fund cool stuff like …. I don’t know, Hoechlin’s personal trainer, maybe (obviously not the cgi), but it still makes me kind of sad to see poor Derek driving a Toyota. Ugh.
I think product placement fails when it is so obvious. There’s a line it shouldn’t cross. Certain things are intrinsic to character, and Derek’s choice of car is one of these things. It’s like putting Dean Winchester in a 2013 Chevy Impala. No.
